What We’re About
Welcome to Adroitfilm.com. Today, April 7th 2007, marks the birth of a website that I hope will eventually challenge the way entertainment is developed and created. I thank you for coming and hope that you will join us in making this website a force for emerging talent.
Since this blog will primarily be filled with my thoughts and views as our company grows, let me introduce myself. My name is Matt Prigmore and I LOVE television and film. Ever since I can remember, I had a fascination with the making of television and film. Through high school I made video’s as often as I could and wound up starting a skit comedy show in Fairfield, CA called Workin the Corner. I attended the top film school at UCLA and interned at a couple development offices. Finding few options out of school, I reluctantly got into the Reality TV world working at MTV and E! Network. Currently, I am working in Local Programming at a television station in San Francisco.

hmmmm the adroit mascot Josie… (yes i am trying to keep your interest with fuzzy kittens)
Through all my jobs and schooling, I have made a point of learning as much as I could about every facet of the tv/film business. From developing scripts, shooting, editing, dealing with budgets, and advertisers; I have learned how today’s shows are run and have found ways where it could be better. I feel at this point I have all the tools to run a successful show and ultimately create an atmosphere that puts creative people in the best position to succeed in bringing a fresh, innovative voice to the current sterile corporate world of tv and film.
The current system for producing entertainment is broken. Instead of looking to make new original material, we get remakes of remakes. We have executives with the cynical view that audiences want formulaic mainstream movies by the same 20 actors and actresses and as long as the picture turns a buck, it’s a success!
But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if there was an alternative to the tired Los Angeles system of making entertainment. What if we could have a production company that only worried about making a comedy funny as opposed to the biggest possible box office. A company that sought out talent to make original, challenging content from tomorrow’s stars. And what if we could have it based in a city that inspires, such as the beautiful and friendly city of San Francisco instead of the ugly desert playground of Paris Hilton and her wealthy companions?
yep, no Paris Hilton folk here!
The digital age is coming. In three years we will be getting most of our entertainment from the internet and when that happens major broadcasters and lone guerilla filmmakers will be on equal footing with the same ability to distribute to a whole world of viewers. And I hope that Adroitfilm will be there to lead the way.
With this website I hope to make a film/tv production company from nothing. I will detail my journey through meetings with writers, actors, and filmmaking wannabes in the effort to make good, watchable entertainment. And all I ask is that you watch, and maybe tell a friend. You gotta admit, this is more interesting than turning a paperclip into a house…
So if you are a writer, actor, cinematographer, or anyone with a passion to create something new and wonderful, write me! If you enjoy a true underdog story, stick around… Like real drama of watching real people pursuing their deepest passions? We will have it. Or if you just have an interest in getting a front row seat to watch a slow train wreck and a guy fall flat on his face, stay tuned… It could all happen, here at Adroitfilm.com!
